Cities are growing fast, and with more buildings and busier streets, we’re all looking for ways to bring a little more nature back into our everyday spaces. At MMA Architectural Systems, we believe Green Walls are one of the best ways to do just that. They’re not only beautiful to look at, but they also help create healthier, more sustainable places to live and work.
Helping Nature Thrive in the City
Green Walls play an important role in improving biodiversity. By adding living plants to building surfaces, we’re giving birds, bees and other wildlife a space to live, feed and thrive, even in the middle of a city. These walls can help support what’s known as Biodiversity Net Gain which is a great way of making sure that building projects leave nature in a better state than before.

Making Every Day Spaces Better
Green Walls not only improve a building’s aesthetics, but they also help reduce air pollution, act as a deterrent to graffiti, and make streets and shared areas feel more welcoming.
They also have real benefits for our health and wellbeing. As well as creating calm spaces, the plants absorb carbon and improve air quality. They can even make a space feel cooler in summer. And in busy areas, they can also help block out some of the noise from traffic and crowds.
A great example is the Green Wall at M&S Cheshire Oaks, where the wall is helping to filter pollution and improve the local environment.
Turning Concrete into Calm
We often hear the term “concrete jungle,” but Green Walls give us a chance to flip that idea on its head. They turn hard, grey surfaces into soft, living spaces that feel fresh and calming. They reconnect people with nature, even in the middle of a busy urban environment.
How Our Green Walls Work
We build Green Walls using strong and flexible Jakob trellis systems made from Webnet, or a combination of stainless steel ropes and rods. These are high-quality materials that are designed to last and allow for creative, natural designs.
You can choose from evergreen plants, which stay green all year round, or deciduous ones that change with the seasons. Both options offer different looks and benefits, depending on the feel you want to create.
Green Walls don’t have to be huge or only for commercial buildings. At MMA, we work on a wide range of projects: from large-scale city developments to small residential gardens and schools. Whether you’re planning something big or just want to add a touch of green to your home, we can help.
At MMA Architectural Systems, we’re proud to be part of this movement towards greener, more sustainable places. If you’re curious about what a Green Wall could look like on your project – big or small – take a look at our case studies or get in touch with our team. We’re always happy to help.
